Coastal Framed Artwork: How to Bring the Water Home

Coastal art gets a bad rap, and mostly it deserves it. Seashell motifs, driftwood signs, teal everything. That's not what this is. Fine art photography of the coast, printed well and framed in solid wood, does something simpler: it puts the feeling of a day on the water into a room without a single anchor motif in sight.

Here's how we'd choose, piece by piece.

Decide what the water should be doing

Calm water settles a room. Blissful Blues is mostly sea and horizon, and it works the way a window works: your eye lands on it and slows down. It's the piece we'd hang in a bedroom or a reading corner.

Moving water wakes a room up. Glide, from our Corey Wilson collection, was shot by a photographer who spent years traveling with the world's best surfers for SURFING magazine, and it shows. Hang it where the energy belongs: an entryway, an office, above a bar cart.

Or take the vintage route

If your room leans warm (rattan, linen, wood), vintage coastal photography beats a modern seascape. Leisure in Antibes puts a motorboat off the French coast. The frame call

Our frames come in four solid wood finishes: White, Black, Natural Wood, and Dark Wood. For coastal pieces, White and Natural Wood keep things airy and are the safe call in nine of ten rooms. Room by room

Above the sofa, go bigger than feels safe. Large (31.5" x 22.5" framed) is the floor there, not the ceiling; Extra Large and Centerpiece are usually the honest answer, and a wide horizon like Sailing in the Bahamas only gets calmer as it gets larger. In the bedroom, stay with still water: Blissful Blues or Sea Drive over the headboard. Hallways and entries suit a matched pair in the same frame finish, hung at eye level. Look closely at the white margin

In our product photos you'll see a white margin around the image. That's not a border on the print. The image runs edge to edge; the white you're seeing is our floating pedestal mount, which lifts the print off the backing the way fine art galleries do. In person it reads as depth, not trim.

The rest of the build is just as deliberate: 100% acid-free archival matte paper, pigment inks printed from original high-resolution files, and premium acrylic up front that blocks 99.9% of UV and reflects far less than glass. If you live near the water, that acrylic matters twice: coastal rooms are bright, and bright rooms are hard on lesser prints.

Is the front glass? No. We use a premium acrylic that beats glass on all three counts that matter: less reflection, 99.9% UV blocking, and it doesn't shatter in transit.

Can I get a piece without the frame? Yes. Choose "No Frame - Print Only" in the frame dropdown on any product page; unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube.
