Start With One Great Photograph
Buying your first piece of fine art photography is simpler than the art world makes it sound. You need to answer two questions: what world do you want on your wall, and is the thing you're buying actually real. Everything else is framing.
Vintage or contemporary?
Vintage photography gives a room a past. A Slim Aarons poolside scene or a frame from the Bettmann Archive carries decades with it, and rooms with wood, brass, or leather drink that up. Contemporary photography gives a room a pulse; Corey Wilson's water and automotive work is proof. Neither is the safe choice or the bold one. Warm, layered rooms tend to want Vintage; clean, spare rooms tend to want the contemporary side. What "real" means, in plain terms
The internet is full of pictures of pictures: scans of scans, printed on whatever, sold as art. Provenance is the difference. We work directly with the owners of the image archives and print from the original high-resolution files, and every piece ships with a certificate of authenticity. Each one is custom made by hand at our facilities and backed by a 10-year guarantee. That's the whole story, and it's the part a photo of the product page can't show you.
Three pieces we'd point a beginner to
Sunbathing in Capri if your room runs warm: terracotta, ochre, a long Mediterranean afternoon. Bahamas Speed Week if you want vintage with an engine in it, a piece that starts conversations without shouting. Glide if the room needs motion. Any of the three works at Large (31.5" x 22.5" framed), and all can be previewed on your own wall in AR before you commit.
Frames, sizes, and the rest
Four solid wood finishes: White, Black, Natural Wood, Dark Wood. Match the frame to the room's wood, not the image, and when torn between two sizes take the bigger one; our sizing guide has all seven formats with their real numbers. Framed pieces are made by hand and arrive ready to hang, hammer only. US orders ship free; outside the US the exact rate shows at checkout.
