Image Details

Boxing Practice – Vintage Black and White Portrait, Los Angeles, 1962.

Captured in Los Angeles in October 1962, this black and white photograph shows a young Cassius Clay—later known as world famous Muhammad Ali—between training sets at the Main Street Gym, speaking with onlookers as he prepared for his fight against Archie Moore.

Still in his early twenties, Clay is relaxed but focused, radiating the charisma and confidence that would soon define his legacy. The scene—complete with handwritten signs and casual conversation—offers a rare, grounded view of a rising icon before superstardom.

An ideal addition to black and white interiors, sports-themed rooms, or collections centered on boxing photography, American legends, or vintage civil rights-era portraits.

This photograph was captured on a historic 35MM film camera, which is part of it's beauty - so the archival look is presented well when printed, instead of ultra high-definition camera prints.
