Slim Aarons was the preeminent lifestyle photographer of the twentieth century. For more than forty years, he documented the manners and mores of society, celebrities, and the leisure class and bore witness to the evolving countenance of society from multiple angles. No other photographer comes close to documenting privilege in the twentieth century at the scale and depth in which he operated.

As he told his longtime friend and editor Frank Zachary, “From now on, I’m going to walk on the sunny side of the street. I’m going to have fun photographing attractive people, doing attractive things in attractive places...” For more than four decades, Slim did just that. He traveled the world, packed lightly and moved fast, or as he said, “No assistants, no props, no stylists, no lights, no problems. Treasure Cay – Slim Aarons Framed Coastal Photography Print. Photographed in March 1986, this image captures the bright, breezy shoreline of Treasure Cay resort, situated on the eastern coast of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas. Originally settled by American Loyalists in 1783, the area known as Treasure Cay saw the establishment of the town of Carleton, which was later abandoned after a hurricane in 1785. In the late 1950s, World War II pilot Leonard Thompson initiated the development of Treasure Cay, securing a lease in 1957. By 1963, the resort officially opened, offering a relaxed, upscale alternative to more built-up destinations. By the 1980s, it had become popular among visitors seeking open water, expansive beaches, and a laid-back atmosphere.
